It’s safe to say that everyone wants to be happy in some ways. Although this may sound like an easy emotion to achieve, either by smiling or laughing, there are still so many that struggle with being happy. Happiness may not also come naturally to majority even though many just want to enjoy life in the world we live in and make the most out of it. However, there are plenty of ways this can be achieved but it mostly boils down to one factor: conviction. Just this word can equate to the driving force of many when it comes to being happy, whether be it having gratitude, having a family or even a hobby, that allows you to bring meaning and a purpose towards your life.
Majority would think that happiness is a temporal emotion, that just comes or goes in a blink of an eye. One second you’re happy then another you become sad or angry. However, happiness doesn’t just happen or isn’t rather something spontaneous but is something that is made, discovered and slowly cultivated. This may be represented as a little seed planted in your head, with your thoughts and actions acting as agents leading toward its growth. Furthermore, all of this goes back to a decision in one’s mind: the decision to be happy.
This may sound difficult but it actually isn’t. All you just need is conviction within yourself to be happy no matter what happens in your life, be it financial troubles, break-ups, failing grades, etc.
Why, you must be wondering?
This is because even though you’re facing all of these difficulties, life won’t be able to disrupt your happiness and get in the way of allowing you to enjoy life if you won’t allow it to.
One way people around the world cultivate happiness is by having gratitude, a quality of happiness and an appreciation to return the kindness showed to you. Instead of focusing on the negative things or problems going on in your life like what was mentioned in the previous paragraph, why not just focus on the fact that you’re alive in this very moment? Having people and friends that love you. Waking up in the morning. Eating at least 3 meals a day. This then allows you to be happy, even by just looking at the simple things in life we often take for granted. Happy people are therefore grateful for anything and everything, making gratitude a habit and not just something for the sake of it.
Aside from this, happiness is also dependent on the things you do in your daily routine like your occupation for example. This can range from just being a student to a business tycoon of a multi-million corporation. However, this also equates that to be happy, you have to make a crucial decision regarding the path you plan on choosing. Furthermore, this can also hinder your happiness if these choices are not ones you want to be.
In conclusion, happiness can go until the long run and can be most certainly obtained. This happiness i’m talking about isn’t just momentary happiness, one that makes a short appearance and then disappears in the blink of an eye, but rather a true and long-lasting happiness. This doesn’t just come to a person easily but is something that is rather given some thought to and has to be created and cultivated to obtain it. Furthermore, you create your own happiness and can happen to anyone because everyone deserves happiness.
